Mkts off day's low; bank, auto, metal stocks still weak...

The markets have pulled back significantly from the early lows but are still under deep pressure. All the key BSE indices are in red but capital goods, realty and oil & gas stocks have seen good amount of buying in last half an hour of trade. BSE midcap and smallcap index have outperformed Sensex today.

At 10.30 am, the Sensex is down 135.39 points or 0.69% at 19588.96, and the Nifty down 36.15 points or 0.62% at 5830.30. About 1217 shares have advanced, 1759 shares declined, and 85 shares are unchanged.

Market breadth was negative with over 700 stocks on the downside and only 415 stocks on the advancing side. Rupee was quoting at 39.36 against a US dollar.

Top gainers on the Nifty are ITC at Rs 174 up 1.34%, NTPC at Rs 233.20 up 1.33% and Larsen & Toubro at Rs 4,479 up 1.24%.

Top losers on the Nifty are Bharti Airtel at Rs 894.70 down 4.83%, Maruti Suzuki at Rs 971.50 down 3.48% and Sterlite Inds at Rs 988.90 down 3.39%.

Most active shares on NSE are Reliance Petro at Rs 264.45 with 18,538,725 shares, Reliance Natural at Rs 132.80 with 20,872,079 shares and Reliance at Rs 2,626.25 with 675,910 shares.

BSE Capital good index has recovered significantly from the early weaknes and was down only 0.14%. In the cap good space, Triveni Eng, Punj Lloydand Bharat Bijlee were the top gainers.
